Hector Torres Hector Torres (Drummer/Percussionist) was born in the musically diverse town of Tijuana, Mexico back in 1959. At a very early age, Hector learned that it was simply impossible to call one style of music his favorite. There was so much to hear and so much to learn. After making Los Angeles, California his new home at age six, he instantly began to explore new forms of expression using drums and or anything that sounded interesting by shaking or striking. In constant search of a new sound and beat, Hector has been working for many years in numerous projects in a variety of styles from Jazz, R & B, Salsa, Rock, Punk, Armenian, Brazilian, Folk, Iranian, Pop, Cape-Verdean and for the past nine years he has being the percussionist for a L.A. based contemporary modern dance company. Mike Smith Mike Smith has been drumming for 25 years and is a founding member of New York Death metal pioneers “Suffocation.” Mikes drumming was first introduced to the Extreme metal scene in 1989 on Suffocation’s debut album “Effigy of the forgotten.” On this album he introduced a drumming technique now known throughout the metal community as the “Blast Beat” or “Smith Blast.” This technique is a main ingredient used in the drumming styles amongst the majority of Extreme metal bands today. His ability to push the boundaries of speed, while combining precision, groove and technicality has influenced a sub genre known today as Technical Death metal. What Mike Smith and his band Suffocation introduced to the scene was the first of its kind and continues to influence the path of many Extreme metal bands across the world today.
